Betsy Dahlstrom grew up in Tennessee and began painting as a young child, teaching her first students as a teen.  She received her degree in Art from the University of Tennessee and graduate study at the University of Cincinnati.  Betsy lived several years in the northeast before settling in the Atlanta area, during which time she helped to found an arts and music camp for mountain children in Appalachia. (Atlanta Journal Constitution, July, '92)  and also founded an art school, Miss Betsy's Art School.  She worked 7 years with seniors in nursing homes and assisted living and those suffering with Alzheimer's Disease providing Therapeutic art and music activities.

    Over 100 of her works are in corporate and  private collections.  She won "Best of Show" in the 37th annual Roswell Festival of the Arts, and placed third place in the "Visions" Gallery Juried Show.  The artist was featured at ArtEast, The C Gallery, Kirkland Uncorked, Issaquah ArtWalks, The Center Gallery, The Burton Gallery, The Golden Isles Juried Arts Festival,  Roswell Cultural Arts Center, Swiss Hotel Atlanta Summer with Georgia Artists, Roswell Landmarks, Mountain Arts Festival, and the Genesis Juried Show.  Betsy served on the board of the Georgia Watercolor Society, and the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance, serving as its President. Her montage "Pauline" is on display at the Atlanta Alzheimer's Association.  She continued to paint and show her work in galleries, festivals, and public venues.  Following their lifelong dream, she and her husband moved out west and now live in the Seattle Washington area.

 Her motto is "Have faith in God and confidence in yourself and there is nothing that can stop you."  

   Betsy is an environmentalist and believes in the spiritual beauty in all of creation which must be protected and cherished.  She frequently paints on location, drawing from nature the images she creates. She is a divergent artist adding layers of color to build a feeling of depth and movement.
